The Potential Effects of TTIP on Bulgaria

INVITATION

to a round table on

THE POTENTIAL EFFECTS OF TTIP ON BULGARIA

May 27, 2015 (Wednesday)

10:00 – 12:30

Radisson Hotel, ballroom

The issue of the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP), currently negotiated by the USA and the EU, is moving up on the two sides’ national agendas, as the talks advance. We believe it is the proper timing for a serious public debate in Bulgaria which can help citizens learn more about the future treaty and guide them to a more informed position on the topic.

The Institute for Market Economics has been following the negotiations since their very beginning and has recently prepared and presented an economic analysis of the potential effects of TTIP on Bulgaria. More specifically, IME’s economists looked into the direct and indirect effects the future agreement could have on the export of goods and services from Bulgaria to the United States, on US investments in Bulgaria, and on Bulgarian consumers.

We would like to invite you to participate in a public debate on the future treaty, which, we hope, will dispel some of the widespread myths surrounding the negotiations and lead to a better public understanding of the topic. We have invited all interested parties which have knowledge of the subject and are to take a position on it – the government, the legislature, business associations, non-government organizations and representatives of civil society, the academia, embassies, and the media.

The round table will take place on May 27, 2015 from 10:00 to 12:30 at Radisson Hotel’s ballroom. The working language will be Bulgarian, but simultaneous interpretation from/to English will be provided. Please confirm your participation by May 25, 2015 by email to [email protected] or by phone: 02 952 62 66.
