27th May 2009 is the day on which we stop working for the state and start working for ourselves. Taxpayers in Bulgaria have to work almost 5 months to pay their taxes towards the state budget. They work for themselves only 7 months.

Did We Wrestle with the Inflation?
“The most important thing to remember is that inflation is not an act of God; inflation is not a catastrophe of the elements or a disease that comes like the plague. Inflation is a policy…”
Barriers to Enter the Market as a Measure Against the Crisis – What a Madness?
...Not only that we should not limit the access to new companies, but quite the opposite – the unnecessary regulations of the sector must be removed by abolishing the very bureaucratic regimes, easier and more efficient operation by the administration and reduction of the administrative taxes and last but not least – effective application of the legal requirements with the objective to limit disloyal competition.
The Tourism Responds to the Crisis
The crisis gave rise to many requests from almost every sector. The continuous “pulling of the blanket” increased the efforts of all separate groups from the economic life which made the pressure on the government even stronger.
The Erroneous Calculations of the Government
A number of public projects, government programs and initiatives in our country significantly exceed the initial cost estimates. One should wonder why it happens and so often indeed? There are several explanations.
Fighting Unemployment with the Bridges to Sicily
The construction of a bridge connecting Sicily with the main land of Italy is expected “to save” the Italian economy from recession. Exactly the bridge to Sicily is the byword for large infrastructural projects (total cost €17 billion) planned by the Italian government, which aim at creation of tens of thousands of jobs. In this part the “Berlusconi’s” plan to a large extend looks alike our “Stanishev’s” plan. The message is clear – “we are in a crisis … let us start spending”.
Again “New” State Companies
When the state decides that it should participate actively in the creation of businesses and the development of certain sectors, we should all ask ourselves the question - why the state would like to participate in such endeavor?
Sometimes I stand and think, sometimes I simply stand
It was well said by Winnie the Pooh! If there was a day when it was certainly necessary to think, than without any doubt it was the day for reflection before the elections. The day, when we all get together, forget about any alcohol and begin to think feverishly about the upcoming elections. We think so hard that we often waste the entire Saturday. At the end, who would think of drinking alcohol exactly on Saturday – this is such a rare event in Bulgaria.
